Separation

Husband and wife must have lived separately and apart in different houses (and not only different rooms) for a period of at least 18 or more consecutive months and without a reasonable expectation of reconciliation. CA.S.A. 2A:34-2A(d).

Irreconcilable Differences

Differences which have caused the breakdown of the marriage for a six month period of time and which makes it appear that the marriage should be dissolved and there is no reasonable prospect of reconciliation. CA.S.A. 2A:34-2A(i).
